Urban family garden

The brief for this compact urban garden was to create a flexible family space where adults can relax and entertain, while little folk can play and explore safely.

The design maximises the available footprint by carefully zoning the garden into a series of connected ‘rooms’. A generous dining area, framed by built-in bench seating beneath a beautiful pergola, forms the social heart of the garden. This overlooks a soft-bark play zone featuring stepping stones, a bug hotel and a raised vegetable planter, encouraging imaginative play and interaction with nature. To the rear, a cosy fire pit area provides a secluded retreat for evening gatherings.

A warm, colourful planting palette wraps around the entire garden, taking full advantage of its south-facing aspect and creating a welcoming, immersive space for all ages.
