Designed to support both movement and stillness, this South East London garden offers a peaceful setting for yoga, relaxation and making the most of the evening sun. The ambition was to create a landscape that encourages time outdoors throughout the day, using planting and gentle transitions between spaces rather than extensive hard landscaping to shape the experience.

At the heart of the design, a generous deck sits beneath a pergola, carefully positioned to capture the warm evening light. Serving equally as a yoga platform and an informal entertaining space, it creates a versatile setting that adapts effortlessly from quiet morning practice to evenings spent with family and friends. Broad, flowing planting beds surround the space, introducing a warm, colourful palette that softens the structure and creates an atmosphere of calm.

A gently winding path draws you deeper into the garden, encouraging exploration as it leads towards a secluded woodland seating area beneath the trees. Sheltered by lush planting, this quieter corner offers a cool place to pause on warm summer days, providing a natural contrast to the open, sunlit spaces closer to the house.

More than simply providing places to sit, the garden creates opportunities to slow down and reconnect with nature. From morning yoga beneath the pergola to peaceful evenings surrounded by planting, it demonstrates how thoughtful garden design can enrich everyday routines and encourage a deeper connection with the outdoors.
