The yoga garden

This large South East London garden was designed as a tranquil space for yoga, relaxation, and enjoying the evening sun, while encouraging exploration and fuller use of the garden without relying heavily on hard landscaping.

The design is anchored by a generous deck beneath a pergola, carefully positioned to capture warm evening light. The deck functions both as a yoga platform and an informal entertaining area. In front, broad, sweeping planting beds introduce a warm, colourful palette, softening the structure and reinforcing a sense of calm.

A gently winding path leads from the lawn, guiding movement beneath the pergola and towards a secluded woodland retreat at the rear. This shaded corner offers a cool, restorative haven, perfect for quiet moments during hot summer days.

The result is a flexible, immersive garden that balances activity, relaxation, and seasonal interest — creating a peaceful urban oasis in the heart of South East London.
